I am an incoming Assistant Professor at the Chandra Family Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering of the University of Texas at Austin, and this is my group's (work-in-progress) webpage!
My research focuses on exotic wave phenomena in electromagnetism, nanophotonics, acoustics and elasticity. In particular, I am interested in how we can manipulate waves when we can engineer and control the properties of their host material in time, at ultrafast timescales, and in how we can leverage extreme symmetry breaking in the nanoscale to discover new forms of wave propagation.
As I populate my website, I will share more of my different specific research directions. For now, you can find a complete list of my publications, my CV and some other info.
If you are interested in pursuing graduate research with my group please reach out to me at egaliffi@utexas.edu. I am currently hiring PhD students with starting date in September 2026. Application deadlines for this year's intake will be in December 2026.
